Geraldine Joan Stout

Geraldine Joan (Sievert) Stout, 83, of Cedar Rapids, passed from this life into eternal life to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 21, 2024. Her final days were spent in Marion, surrounded by her loving family. Memorial Visitation will be at 3:00 pm on October 4, 2024, followed by the Celebration of Life Service at 4:00 pm at River of Life Church, 3801 Blairs Ferry Rd NE, Cedar Rapids, IA  52402. Joan, also known as Jo, was born on July 23,1941, in Keswick, IA, to Paul and Hazel (Gorsh) Sievert. Her family moved to Keota, IA, where she grew up and graduated from Keota High School in 1959. After graduating, she attended and graduated in 1961 from what she called “beauty school”, The Paris Academy in Cedar Rapids, IA. She was married on July 11, 1964 to Lester Stout, and they made their home in Cedar Rapids. She was employed by Rockwell-Collins for over 20 years, and retired to spend more time with her grandchildren, who called her “Nanna”. She was a faithful church attender for many years at Immanuel Baptist, then transitioned to Fellowship Christian Center, which later became River of Life Church. Her love for the Lord was very strong, and she was friends with many within the church community. She walked hundreds of miles around her neighborhood after retirement. She loved to pray for her family, friends, church, missionaries and the countries around the world, particularly Israel. She enjoyed the beauty of creation, including flowers, squirrels, birds (especially cardinals), rainbows, sunsets and seeing the moon at night. She enjoyed being around her family, especially her grandchildren, and was loved by all.

Joan is survived by her daughter Lori Owens, her grandchildren Eric, Sharayah and Jonathan Owens, her brother Richard Sievert and his wife Cynthia, her brother-in-law Robert Heckart, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded into death by her parents, her sister Gladys “Marie” Heckart, three nephews, and her previous husband Lester, whom she always loved.

Memorial donations may be directed to the family, Bridgehaven in Cedar Rapids, IA or River of Life Church in Cedar Rapids, IA.
