Cindy Reck

Cindy Reck, 74, of Anamosa, Iowa passed away November 19th while in hospice care at St. Lukes Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A private Service with just immediate family will be at Cedar Memorial in Cedar Rapids prior to her cremation. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Dale Reck, two sons, five grandchildren, a brother Mike Ghere, his son Jesse Ghere and daughter Billie Serocki. Her son Mike, wife Amanda and their children Izzy, Henry, and Sylas were the Anamosa loves of her life. Not far away, her son Travis (T.J.), his wife Trisha and children Morgan and stepson Dakota Dillon were the Dubuque loves of her life.

Cindy was a fish. She loved her swimming pool and loved entertaining family and friends throughout the summer months. She also loved flowers but not the effort it took to keep the deer and racoons out of them.

She was preceded in death by her parents Bill and June Ghere of Oelwein, Iowa.

Cindy was born February 2nd, 1952, in Independence, Iowa. She graduated from Jefferson High School in Independence, Iowa in 1970 and then attended Ellsworth College in Iowa Falls where she received her associate’s degree. In 1972 she married her high school sweetheart Dale Reck of Independence. She enrolled as a Junior at the University of Northern Iowa where Dale was a Senior. Upon Dale’s graduation, they moved to Anamosa where Dale had been hired as the Middle School Art Teacher. She decided not to complete her senior year at UNI and instead entered the workforce as a receptionist for Willhoit Zimmerman in Anamosa. Then she and Dale moved to Cedar Rapids where she worked as a secretary for Life Investors while he continued to teach in Anamosa. In wanting to move back to Anamosa, she was hired as a secretary receptionist for the then Remley, Heiserman, Willems law firm in Anamosa.

Finally, prior to retiring in 2014, she spent 22 years as a purchaser for the industries division of the Iowa State prison system in Anamosa. Cindy left us wat too soon. She will be greatly missed but forever remembered.
