Tamra "Tammy" Ann Evans

Tamra (Tammy) Ann Evans, 57, passed away on Monday, July 13, 2020. She died peacefully in her new home on Lake Delhi, IA surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services will be held at Marion Methodist Church on Friday, July 17th at 10:30am. The family will begin greeting visitors at 9:30am for anyone who wishes to connect personally or would prefer to pass-through in lieu of attending the memorial service. The memorial service can also be viewed via live streaming from Marion Methodist Church’s website; www.marionmethodist.org.

Tammy is survived by her husband Matt; her son, Noah (Samantha) and baby grand daughter, Nellie Grace of Farley; daughter, Madeline; mother, Margie Jennett; sisters, Debbie (Randy) Duncan and Becky Jorgenson all of Muscatine; along with a host of many loving relatives. She was proceeded in death by her father Pat Jennett.

Tammy was born on November 14, 1962 to Patrick and Margaret (Bengford) Jennett in Muscatine, IA. She graduated from Muscatine High School and Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX with a degree in Elementary Education. Tammy moved to Humble, TX in 1983 and was married to Matt Evans on August 1, 1987. Tammy taught kindergarten at Humble Elementary School before returning to Iowa in 1992. She then taught 3rd Grade at Vinton-Shellsburg School district for 10 years before becoming Director of Children’s Ministries at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Marion, IA until retiring in 2017. Tammy’s love for teaching was evident in her daily life. She had a special gift and passion for teaching young children about the “good news” – the love and grace found through Jesus Christ. She was a lifelong teacher to all who knew her, right up through her final moments with us on this earth. Tammy loved the water and cherished many memorable vacations to the beaches, islands, and lakes with her family and friends. She loved to see the world and always used her travels as an opportunity to seek out and admire God’s handy work. After having a family cabin for 3 years, she and Matt recently made the full-time move to a new home on Lake Delhi. She referred to it lovingly as her “piece of peace”. She will be missed immensely by her adoring family and friends. She was tireless in prayer and her pursuit of spreading God’s love to those around her; Tammy lived a servant life dedicated to follow Jesus no matter what. We are thankful and assured knowing that she is now in God’s loving care and free from the pain and suffering of her courageous battle with cancer.

The family has requested that if you wish to make a contribution of any kind, it be a donation made in Tammy’s name to one of the many local organizations she so freely gave of her time and talents; F.L.Y. (Feeding Lunches to Youth -- www.marionmethodist.org/FLY) is a charity that provides lunches to underprivileged children in the local Marion area.
