Barbara A. Maruska

Barbara A. (Carson) Maruska, 76, of Quasqueton, passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2022 at Mercy Medical Center due to health complications. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2022 from 4 pm – 8 pm at Wolfey’s Wapsi Outback in Quasqueton.  Sharing of memories will begin at 5 pm, with a meal to follow.

Survivors include her sister, Lorraine (Duane) Butterfield of Hiawatha, brother Terry Carson of Bonners Ferry, Idaho and grandchildren Bandi Arp, Bessie Brockmeyer, and Rory Brockmeyer; great grandchildren Mason, Myles and Memphis. Also surviving are nieces Hillary Stacey, Amy (Jason) Amidon, Heather (Leon) Hospodarsky, Amanda (Tim) Gerlach and nephew Adam (Tovah) Carson. 

Barbara Ann (Carson) Maruska was born on December 13, 1945 to Richard and Bonnie (Beebe) Carson in Walker, Iowa.  She worked in manufacturing at Link-Belt in Cedar Rapids prior to running the Friendly Tavern, Big Q Café and Carson Grocery in Quasqueton.  She then went on to become an over the road semi-truck driver with her beloved friend, Sharon, and her late husband, Al Maruska. 
 
Barb will be remembered for her adventurous stories from life on the road, her love for her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and her baking skills.  Her friends, family and neighbors have all been the recipients of her gifts from the kitchen.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughters, Kelly Nauer and Shelly Arp, and her husband Al. 

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Iowa Cremation is assisting the family with arrangements.
