Glenn Oldorf

Glenn Oldorf, 87, of Marion passed away on Monday, November 28, 2022, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. Glenn was born on September 8, 1935, in rural Jones County, the son of Wilbur and Mildred Oldorf. He later moved to Mechanicsville, Iowa, Glenn graduated from Mechanicsville High School in 1954. Glenn served his country with the U.S. Army Engineers in Alaska. After discharge, Glenn returned to Iowa and married Mary Jane Stout on November 23, 1957. Glenn attended and graduated from the University of Iowa with a BA degree in 1965, and MA degree in 1968. Glenn was employed by the Cedar Rapids Schools as a teacher and school administrator, having retired in 1992.

Glenn and Mary Jane traveled extensively in their motor home. They enjoyed spending their winters at Sundance Resort in Casa Grande, Arizona. Glenn was very active in wood carving and played several billiard tournaments every week during the winter.

Glenn is survived by his sister, Edith (Douglas) Willey of Mechanicsville, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Mildred, and two brothers, Kenneth and Larry and wife Mary Jane.

A cremation committal was conducted, with private family services to be held at a later date.
