Marcene Lorraine Millhollin

Marcene Lorraine Millhollin formerly of Fontanelle and Greenfield Iowa, passed away on November 29, 2022, at the Stuart Community Care Center in Stuart, IA.

Marcene was the second child of five born to Charles Cummins and Ione Cummins Asman on August 19, 1928, in Leduc, Alberta, Canada. On October 16, 1948, Marcene married the love of her life and dance partner Lyle Norman Millhollin in Long Beach, California. They shared more than 68 special years together where they welcomed three daughters. Marcene worked as a home health aide and a special education assistant, passing on a passion for that line of work to many of her descendants. She was a member of The Order of the Eastern Star, enjoyed hosting company for any reason, watching movies, especially those starring Shirley Temple, participating in TOPS (a weight management program) and heading straight to the bakery afterward, shopping at department stores in Des Moines and Kansas City, getting her hair styled, collecting ornate tea cups and saucers, and cooking and baking for others in times of need.

Marcene is survived by daughters Denice Gienapp of Urbandale, IA, Joni Collins (Gregory) of Kansas City, MO, and Suzanne Pataro of Swedesboro, NJ; sister Patricia Wambold of Winterset, IA; sister-in-law Betty Smith of Manhattan Beach, CA; four grandchildren: Ami (Rob) Campbell of Des Moines, IA, Justin (Courtney) Gienapp of Denver, CO, Devan Foos (Kelby) of Kansas City, MO, and Cole Pataro of Swedesboro, NJ; two great-grandchildren: Charlie Paul Gienapp and Henry Jay Gienapp, both of Denver; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle, her parents Charles and Ione, and three siblings; Lois Prunty, Merle Cummins and Charles Cummins.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, December 4th from 2-4pm at Summerset Estates, 310 Summerset, Fontanelle, IA 50846

Memorial donations may be made to Stuart Community Care Center, 325 SW 7th St., Stuart, IA 50250 or the Iowa Veterans Cemetery, 34024 Veterans Memorial Dr., Adel, IA 50003.
