Charles Joseph Clarke, Jr.

Charles Joseph Clarke, Jr., was born May 31, 1944, in Baltimore, Maryland to Charles and Catherine (Riley) Clarke, Sr. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy as a Navy Corpsman obtaining his GED. He served his country from 1964 to 1969.  After serving, he went to work construction and became a master carpenter. 

Charles was united in marriage to Tammy Marie Clouse on August 3, 2002, at Wellman Mennonite Church in Wellman, Iowa where he was a member. He volunteered for many years at Crowded Closet.  Charles enjoyed fishing, traveling, reading, spending time with family and talking for hours on the phone with his longtime military friend, Larry Jolly.

He enjoyed the Atlanta Braves, Iowa Hawkeyes, Carolina Panthers and attending Cedar Rapids Kernels games. 

Charles died on June 4, 2023, at the age of 79. He is survived by his wife, Tammy; nine children, Cathy (Tony) Lamb of Rockledge, Florida, Charles Joseph Clarke III of Raleigh, North Carolina, Tori (Jody) Brown of Saluda, South Carolina, Keyma (Jody) Clarke of Saluda, South Carolina, John Canady of Saluda, South Carolina, Tasha Coy of Portland, Indiana, Ariel Clouse of Galena, Illinois, Kristy Clouse of Washington, Iowa, and Naomi (Lucas) Ohrt of Albia, Iowa; 20 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Phil (Lynn) Clarke of Wagner, South Carolina and George Clarke of Graniteville, South Carolina. He is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Chris Wagner; brother, Bob Clarke, and a great-granddaughter, Madalynn Smith. 

Service will be will June 17th, at 4:00 p.m. at Wellman Mennonite Church in Wellman, Iowa. Burial will be held at a later date.
