Lucille Newell
Lucille was born in rural Allison, IA on July 8, 1922 daughter of Peter and Rena Fick. She married Allen Newell in 1950 and they later divorced.
She had a daughter, Sheryol (Fick) (Kayser) Shugar of Waterloo, IA. Two grandchildren, Jeffrey Kayser and Daniel Kayser and three great-grandchildren, Emmalyn (Cody Fitzpatrick), Carrie and Holly (Zac Illg) and two great-great grandchildren. Frankie and Lou Illg.
She is preceded in death by her daughter Sheryol L. Shugar, parents, four sisters and one brother: Dorothy (Paul) Dralle; Anna LaCoste; Minnie (Heine) Kielman; John (Georgia) Fick; Jean (Richard) Schaefer and son-in-law Gary Shugar.
Lucille worked at Boeing Aircraft in the state of Washington and returned to Iowa and was employed for over 30 years at Rath Packing Company from where she retired.
She will be remembered by her family and friends as a hard-working, independent person with a strong will. She was an extremely healthy woman and doctors were always amazed by her physical condition as she gracefully aged.
Her wish is to be cremated with her ashes placed next to her parents (and her daughter) in the Allison, IA cemetery. At her request no service will be held but a gathering of family and friends will be held June 18, 2023 at the River View Shelter in Black Hawk Park, Cedar Falls, IA from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm.
