Robert (Bob) Wesley Sloan passed away Sunday, May 21, 2023, at his home in Waukee, Iowa.

Bob was born April 24, 1940, to Velma and Ralph Sloan in Earlham, Iowa.  He attended and graduated from Earlham High School.  He started his working career at Culligan in Adel and then retired from the Dallas County Road Department.

Bob was a loving father and avid fisherman who loved to buy lottery tickets hoping to “win big”.  You could always find him at his favorite fishing spots.  His love of fishing was passed on to his son, David, who has fond memories of fishing with his dad.  Bob was a devoted grandfather who enjoyed sharing his passion of fishing with his grandkids and visited them often with donuts in hand.

Bob leaves behind his children, daughters:  Robin (Jim) McAlister, Rita (Ron) Rice; and son: David (Candy) Sloan. Grandchildren Noah McAlisterHannah Van Roekel, Sara Schmeling, Jacob, Kale and Lilly Rice; Jaxon and Leah Sloan; Cody, Abigail and Madison Feller; and several great grandchildren; his brother Larry (Jan) Sloan and sister Carolyn Mitchell; several nieces and nephews; and his longtime partner, Mary Buckman.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by two sisters Donna Smith, and Shirley Ford.

A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, June 17, from 1:00 - 4:00 pm at the Adel Masonic Lodge, 411 South 12th Street in Adel.
