Orville Peter Meyer
Orville Peter Meyer, 88, of Anamosa, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2024 at the Anamosa Care Center. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at 11:30 am, with a visitation from 9 to 11 am, at First Congregational Church in Anamosa.
Orville Peter Meyer was born on December 11, 1935 to Neman and Vera (Faas) Meyer in Monticello, Iowa. He graduated from Martelle High School in 1955. Orville proudly served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was united in marriage to Judy Tallman. To this union, 3 children (Connie, Carolyn, James) were born. They later divorced. He was united in marriage to Loretta Hamilton on December 21, 1991.
Orville farmed and worked at FMC, Goss, and Food Waste Solutions until his retirement in 2003. He enjoyed trips to the casino, fishing, playing cards, and being with family and friends.
Left to cherish his memories is his wife, Loretta Meyer of Anamosa; children, Connie (Kevin) Hupp of Ely; Carolyn Walker of Anamosa; and James (Sally) Meyer of Anamosa; step-sons, Mark Hamilton of Cedar Rapids and Cory (Jackie) Hamilton of Troy Mills; grandchildren, Jessica Hupp, Joshua (Samantha) Hupp, Jennifer Hupp, Brooke (Tyler) Bohlken, Joel (RaeEllen) Walker, Emily and Wesley Meyer, and Madison Hamilton; 6 great grandchildren; his sister, Ruth Collins of Viola; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Pete Meyer, Neman Meyer, and Arva Brockhohn.
