Albert Stanley Reed

Albert (Almo, Al) Stanley Reed, 84, passed away on Wednesday, July 24th. Al was born in Neptune, New Jersey, on October 9, 1939 to Harry and Mary Reed. Al had six brothers and one sister. Al grew up in New Jersey, working at the Adelphia farm and then a construction company with his father, before becoming a truck driver, which he enjoyed. He was a member and volunteer of the Adelphia Fire Company. He was married to Marion Birdsall in 1958 and had three children; Ginnie, John, and Tom. They divorced and he later remarried June Templeman on October 23, 1993.

Al loved traveling, watching NASCAR, and most importantly, his family. Al and June traveled for many years in their motorhome with their chihuahua, Bambi. Anyone who knew Al, knew that he was a selfless individual who was always willing to do anything, for anyone.

Al is survived by his children; Ginnie (Edwin) Rodriguez of Howell, NJ, John Reed of Chesapeake, VA, and Tom (Kristie) Reed of Monterey, TN; step-children, Michael (Linda) Templeman of West Liberty, IA, and Mitchell Templeman of West Liberty, IA; grandchildren, Angie Rodriguez of Howell, NJ, Jaimie Mieretto of Harbor, WA, Marcus (Alex) Templeman of Phoenix, AZ, and Taryn (Tanner) Arndt of Platteville, WI; his only great-grandchildren, Elliott and June Arndt of Platteville, WI, and numerous other family members. Al was very loved by all of his nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Al was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and all of his siblings.

There will be no service held, per Al’s wishes. In lieu of flowers, feel free to make a donation to Simpson Memorial Home, 1000 N Miller St., West Liberty, IA 52776.

A very special thank you to Simpson Memorial home for caring for Al for a brief period of time.
