Sharon Knight

Sharon Knight, 78, of Robins, fell asleep in death on Monday, July 13, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Memorial Services will be on Sunday 4:00 pm July 28, at the Cedar Valley Congregation Kingdom Hall, 2204 26th Street NW, Cedar Rapids.

Sharon was born on November 28, 1945, to Orville and Margaret (Gish) Brown. She was united in marriage to Lowell Knight on September 18, 1965, in Wichita, KS. She is survived by her husband, Lowell: children, Shanda Knight, Leah (Joe) Schmidt and Daniel Knight; granddaughter, Autumn (Josh) Petska; great-grandchildren Blakely and Boone Petska. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, brother Gary Brown and grandson, Quinn Houlahan.

She had health problems leading up to a spinal cord tumor that was removed. After which she went from a crutch to a walker to a wheelchair in which she lived for over 15 years, and never once complained! Despite being in a wheelchair, she was a regular at the Rockwell Collins Gym, where she was known as the gym cheer leader and a “mascot of encouragement.” She loved growing tropical plants in her green house; and spending time with her family, riding around in her wheelchair talking with neighbors, and calling many friends in the congregations. Sharon was also active in the Cedar Valley Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She didn’t know a stranger, and will be missed by many!
