Janet Marie Pollock

Janet Marie (Watters) Pollock passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on Saturday, June 1, 2024.  A celebration of life will be held on August 31, 2024 at 11 A.M. at the Guttenberg Methodist Church followed by a reception in the Ingleside River Park in Guttenberg, IA.

Janet was born on January 16, 1949 to Elmer and Myrtle (Saunders) Watters in Clinton, Iowa. She attended Iron Hill Country School and graduated in 1967 from Maquoketa High School.

In 1975 she married Roger Wood and they shared four wonderful children. They later parted ways and she was blessed to find love again when she met Ross Pollock. They were united in marriage on April 24, 2010.

After high school, Janet worked for Goodenow & Wright Law Firm in Maquoketa. After years of dedicated work there, she decided to follow her dream of being a nurse and attended Clinton Community College where she earned her degree as a Registered Nurse. She devoted her life to her work as a nurse working at Medical Associates and Genesis Health System. After her retirement in 2010, she moved to Mineral Point, WI with her husband Ross where they lived on a 40-acre farmette. In 2020, she and Ross moved into a beautiful riverfront home in Guttenberg, Iowa. Janet was active in the Methodist Church in both Mineral Point and Guttenberg.

Over 14 wonderful years together, Ross and Janet traveled to numerous places, including 30 U.S. states, two Canadian provinces and three European countries; Germany, Belgium and Denmark.

Janet always welcomed friends and family into her home and enjoyed cooking and trying new recipes. She valued spending time with her girlfriends, listening to Elvis and playing Bingo. She had a passion for nature and her greatest love was spending time with her family camping, fishing, going on golf cart rides, playing games, hunting for morel mushrooms, and watching her grandchildren play sports. She was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes and Green Bay Packers fan. Janet was very proud of her family and cherished every precious moment spent together.

Janet is survived by her husband, Ross Pollock, children Brenda (Paco) Ochoa of Los Fresnos, TX, Matt (Alison) Wood of North Liberty, IA, Paula (Paul) Rasmussen of Monona, IA, Paul (Irina) Wood of Redding, CA, her step-children Dave (Marieta) Pollock of Hamont-Achel, Belgium, Ross (Simona) Pollock of Schwabach, Germany, John Pollock of Bremen, Germany as well as seven grandchildren; Natalia Ochoa, Taylor Rasmussen, Nora Rasmussen, Zach Wood, Rachel Wood, Eliana Wood and Izabella Wood, seven step-grandchildren; Sofie Pollock, Yentl Pollock, Marvin Pollock, Jason (Nadine) Pollock, Jimmie Pollock, Anaka Pollock, Nils Pollock and two great-grandchildren Wout Pollock and Neah Pollock.
