Sandra Fay Suhr

Sandra Fay Suhr, 80, of Waterloo, Iowa passed away on June 16th after a short illness at Cedar Valley Hospice House in Waterloo. 

Sandra was born on April 17,1944 at Waverly Hospital to Jay and Viola Clark. Sandy grew up in Denver, Iowa where she graduated high school in 1962. Sandy met the love of her life, Jerry Suhr, on a blind date and they were joined in marriage on August 18, 1962. The couple went on to have two children, Lisa and Jeff. They raised their family in the Denver and Readlyn area. Throughout the years, Sandy worked at Farm Services in Readlyn and Terex in Waverly. 

In retirement, the couple moved to Harpers Ferry, Iowa. Sandy was an avid gardener and bird watcher, enjoying her morning cup of coffee while looking for hummingbirds.  During the day she occupied her time with crocheting, knitting, quilting and volunteering at church. Many evenings you could find Sandy enjoying a game of cards while entertaining family and friends. In their later years, the couple moved to Waterloo, Iowa to be closer to family. Sandy was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and friend, leaving behind tokens of love and devotion for all of those lucky enough to know her.

Sandra is survived by her Children, Lisa (Thomas) DenHartog of Cedar Falls, and Jeff (Carmen) Suhr of Marion; Grandchildren, Thomas (Gerta) DenHartog, Amanda Suhr, Mitchell DenHartog and Amber (Mason) Cook; Great Grandchildren: Jerry Cook, Marvin Cook, Conan DenHartog; Sisters Dianne (Sherwin) Buls, Linda Seelhammer, Jan Brower. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jerry Suhr; Siblings Donna Jans, Sharon Devries, Roger Clark, brother in laws Merlin Jans, Jerry Seelhammer, Ron Brower and sister-in-law Mildred Clark. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.
