Harlan Lester Bremer was born March 3, 1939 in Tripoli, IA. He passed away March 9, 2024 at home in Osage, IA. A funeral service will take place at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Osage, IA on Friday, March 15 at 2:00 PM, with a visitation prior beginning at 1:00 PM

Harlan was the son of Paul A. and Elvira (Holm) Bremer. He was baptized on April 16th, 1939 at Grace Lutheran Church in Tripoli, IA. He was then confirmed on December 6th, 1953 at the Tripoli Town Hall. He went on to graduate from Tripoli High School on May 17th, 1956. He entered the Army in 1957 and was eventually Honorably Discharged from the service on June 30th, 1963.

He was married to Donna Mae Meyer on September 20, 1959 at St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Waverly, IA. The union was blessed with three children, Steven, Sherry and Stuart.

Harlan and Donna moved to Osage in 1963 where Harlan worked for the USDA as an egg inspector. He later went to work for Tom Zanios; managing Cedar Valley produce, Zanios Foods and Iowa Packaging. Harlan and Donna Bremer also owned/managed Bremer’s Pizza in Osage from 1975 to 1987.

Activities: Member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Osage where he served on many church boards, was a member of the Osage Jaycees and served as a Jaycee State Senator, he was on the Osage City Council, the Osage Municipal Utilities Board and was owner of Iowa Packaging and Warehouse as well as a member of the CRC Board.

Harlan was preceded in death by his parents (Paul & Elvira) and 3 brothers (Don, Paul and David).

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Donna, son Steve (Carrie) Bremer of Osage, daughter Sherry (Mark) Borchardt of Cedar Rapids and son Stuart Bremer of Nevada. 11 Grandchildren: Brad, Melinda, Chris, Ashley, Katlin, Jordan, Abby, Carter, Riley, Dylan and Tyson as well as 14 Great Grandchildren. Harlan is also survived by 5 siblings, sisters Darla, Mary, Julie & Carol and a brother Duane as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers please send any memorials to the Harlan Bremer Family for designations to a charity to be decided on at a later date by the family.
