Obituary for Sandra A. Williams

Sandra A. Williams born March 20, 1941 to Raymond and Thelma McKeag. Sandra was one of eight children, She had 4 bothers and 3 sisters. Sandra was raised in Brooklyn, Ia. and later moved to the Des Moines area where she met her husband John C. Williams, they married in 1962. Sandra and John would go on to have 5 children. Rhonda Williams, Janine (Scott)  Perrin, Debra (Jamie)  Lame, Troy (Sandra) Williams, Todd (Amanda) Williams. 1986 Sandra and John would move from Urbandale, Ia to Settlers trail in St. Charles, Ia.This was home, where the magic was. Over the years Sandra and John had 11 Grandchildren Aleasha (Jason) Williams, Avery Scribner, Kelli (Mike ) Williams, Richard Williams, Bobby (Julie) Frees, Brianna (Jordan) Martinez, Bradley (Dakota)  Williams, Tyler (Jenna) Williams, Jacob Williams, Kyle Williams, Xander Williams, and 6 Great Grandchildren Ryan (Kyra) Munoz, Hunter (Ashton) Keubler, Emersyn Keubler,  Maverick Frees, Michael Tritle, Briggs Frees, and 2 Great Great Grandchildren Dax Munoz and Ace Munoz. 

Sandra was very hard working woman. She worked at Valley West mall for 19yrs, before retiring and then doing what she loved most spending time with her grandkids and family, and being outside. She loved the outdoors, and no matter the condition, we couldn’t keep her inside. She was always busy doing something, no matter if she was suppose to rest . The property was covered in beautiful flowers, trees everywhere and she had her big garden every year. 

Upon moving into the house, better known as the “Williams Ranch”, Grandma and the family planted over 100 trees on the property all around the house. She made it her own little heaven on earth. Every year she planted a garden and the grandkids would help her harvest, she would always be sure to have us sneak a strawberry or green bean to make sure they were ripe. We would walk the property to check for deer tracks, and the pond to see if the giant fish she had would make an appearance. In the winter time she would make hot chocolate and her from scratch chicken noodles. We would play Chinese checkers or a quiet game of solitaire, or start a 500 piece puzzle if it was too cold to go outside. Otherwise we would go outside, build a snow man, shovel the walks and check on the deer.  

Grandma loved her birds and always had several bird feeds for different kinds of birds. Humming bird feeders lined the front window of the house. Grandma’s house was home! For everyone. It was where the world slowed down and we were able to take in the summer breeze, where you felt safe, loved and never ever without. Grandma made miracles every birthday, Thanksgiving and Christmas. She lived for the smile and happiness of her family, and she would do whatever it took for all of us, she never thought of herself because as long as her family was taken care of and happy, she was happy. Grandma was the heart and soul of our family. The piece that brought us all together. The woman that we all loved adored and looked up too. She had a fiery side and was so brave, she didn’t take any slack from anyone and always stood up for what she believed in. She was fun, funny, adventurous and the little side of her that liked living on the edge. She was beautiful, so smart, so kind and caring and so selfless. We all had the best childhood the best memories because of her. She was an angel walking among us and we were the lucky ones that God blessed. 

March 20, 2024 surround by family, she transitioned to heaven, peacefully. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers.   

Family will hold privet celebration of life.
