Shirley Ann Williams

Shirley Ann Williams, 82, of Elkader, Iowa passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family Sunday, March 10, 2024, at her home. A private ceremony will be held at a later date. 

Shirley was born October 2, 1941, to Arthur and Lorine (Schultz) Handke Sr. She was united in marriage to Ray Alfred Williams on December 12, 1959.  Four children were born to this union. Together they made their home near Motor Mill where they farmed for many years. Shirley loved to spend her days outside, she was an avid walker, enjoyed riding the side by side, cooking, shopping, and going out for supper and having an occasional cold Coors Light. She enjoyed country music, bluegrass festivals and traveling to National Parks to see the mountains.  Above all she loved spending time with her family.

Shirley is survived by her children, Dan (Cheryl) Williams, Connie Kraemer, Gary Williams, and Brian Williams; six grandchildren,  Justin Williams, Jason Williams, Kayla Kraemer (Landen Petts), Kyle Kraemer, Lynnette (Justin) Flage and Tiffany Williams (Cody Bahr); three great grandchildren, Vincent Flage, Nyah Bahr, and Holden Petts; siblings, Verna Johanningmeir, Sue Miller, Bill Handke, Robert (Betty) Handke, Sandy Clouse, Patty (Lonny) Amsden; along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Williams, her parents, and two brothers, Michael Handke and Arthur “Jim” Handke Jr.
