Dave was born August 20th, 1943, the son of Homer Jehu and Blanche Margaret (Bleuer) Postlethwait, in Mogadore, Ohio where he grew up and discovered his love of farming. Dave and his twin brother Don could be found tinkering on tractors, competing in tractor pulls, and competing in local competition plowing events. Dave married Anne Seigfreid on February 11th, 1961, in Uniontown, Ohio and had four children.
Dave and Anne visited Iowa in 1971, and absolutely fell in love with Iowa with its rich sense of agriculture. They moved their family to Iowa in 1976 and purchased a farm North of Springville in 1977. This is where he restarted his love of agriculture and became involved in many clubs and organizations. Dave worked many years at ADM Corn Sweeteners as a Maintenance Mechanic. He worked on big machinery and climbed the silos at night. Dave also enjoyed taking in the Cedar Rapids lights below him. He worked 3rd shift, allowing him to be available to go to all his kids' sporting and school events.
Dave loved visiting Old Threshers and camping on the grounds with his family. He spent many years showing stationary gas engines, his father’s John Deere A tractor, and a quarter scale steam engine. He was very involved in bringing competition plowing back to Iowa. He served as the Iowa Chapter President as well as the National President. Anne and Dave traveled the country and overseas for many competition plowing events. He was a member of the Eastern Iowa Two Cylinder Club and served many years as the President. He also enjoyed playing rounds of golf for many years.
Dave is survived by his wife, Anne of Springville, IA; children, Rich (Lisa) of Ottawa, IL; Jodie (Mark) Speas of Big Rapids, MI; and Tracie of Marion, IA; eight grandchildren, Kelsy Marie, Olin James, Hannah Lynn, John David, Kelly Elizabeth, Emily Anne, Sophia Joy and Benjamin David; daughter-in-law, Joelyn of Marion, IA; and nieces, nephews, extended loving family members, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Wally; daughter-in-law, Maria; eight siblings, Ray, Paul, Homlyn, Robert, Vonn, Margie, Tim, and his twin brother, Don. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
