Joseph Peter Costanzo III

Joseph Peter Costanzo III, age 70, of West Des Moines, Iowa passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2024. A celebration of life visitation will be held Sunday, November 24, 2024 from 2 - 4 p.m. at McLaren's Resthaven Chapel in West Des Moines, Iowa.

Joe was born at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines on July 25th, 1954 to Mary Darlene (Ricketts) and Joseph Peter Costanzo Jr. He lived most of his life in West Des Moines and attended Dowling High school. He worked with his dad at Victoria Cleaners, and later had his own cleaners at Normandy Plaza. Joe also worked at Firestone before his cancer was diagnosed. Joe had a love for fast cars and never knew a stranger. Most of all he loved Jesus. He was born again on December 30th, 1997 by baptism in Jesus Christs name fulfilling the One Lord, One Faith, One Baptism.

He is survived by his wife Karen of 29 years; son, JP Costanzo IV of Onterio Canada; daughter, Liz Costanzo of Naples, Florida; and his many beloved pets; mother, Mary Darlene; brothers, sister and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and sister, Victoria.

(Tribute by mom, Mary Darlene) A saying by Kahil Gibran:

Your children are not your children; they are the sons and daughters of life longing for itself. They come through you but not from you. And though they are with you, yet they belong not to you.

Joey was his own person with a big will which he employed from day ONE. He liked things his way or the highway. He wasn’t used to following rules and regulations but his own way. Bless him Lord, on his journey.
