Marilyn Jean Peck
Marilyn Jean (Hamilton) Peck was born June 14, 1932 at home in Emeline, Iowa to Helen (Babcock) and Clayton Hamilton. She was the oldest of five children and grew up in Jackson and Jones County. She graduated from Wyoming High School in 1950. She worked as a secretary at Johnson County Conservation, Brandt Heating, Iowa Medical Classification Center, and other Iowa City locations. She also worked in the summer for her friend’s carnival – D&B Shows for many years.
Marilyn was married in 1951 to Romeyn Herbert “Tad” Peck and they had five children together before later divorcing.
Marilyn volunteered with Senior Meals in West Liberty, where she lived for several years. She was a member of the Grandview Community Bible Church. Marilyn loved gardening and tending to plants. She enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and often took them along to work on the carnival in the summer.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her son Richard “Ric” Peck and daughter in law Wendy Peck, her parents, brother Ross Hamilton, sister Mona Mylhousen, brother in laws Bob Myhlhousen and Donovan “Mike” Mead.
She is survived by her children: Martha (Delbert) Knight, Mary (Doug) Lenoch, Marlene (Jay) Lenoch and Robb (Debbie) Peck, eleven grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter, her sisters Jane (Bob) Hansen and Judy Mead, sister-in-law Mary “Frosty” Hamilton, nieces and nephews and her good friends Bonnie Tripses and Cinda Welk.
No services are planned. The family will have a private graveside service at a later date per Marilyn’s wishes. The family would like to thank Dr. Hanna, Iowa City Hospice and Simpson Memorial Home for their care of Marilyn. Cards may be sent to 1417 Franklin St., Iowa City, IA 52240.
