Marilyn Jean Roseberry
Marilyn Jean Roseberry died peacefully on November 13th at the Western Home Communities in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Marilyn was a devoted wife to Michael (Mike) Roseberry during their 47 years of marriage, a dedicated mother to her daughter, Lisa, and a doting grandmother to her grandson, Thomas.
A lifetime resident of the Waterloo/Cedar Falls area, Marilyn was born February 17, 1940, to Glenn and Iro (Guiter) Heil. After graduating from AIB in Des Moines she put her skills to good use as an administrative assistant at John Deere and at the University of Northern Iowa.
Marilyn made friends wherever she went. She and Mike were active in sports car club events both when they first met and then in retirement. A member of Questers, she enjoyed collecting Wedgewood and other antiques. When she moved into the Western Home in 2007 Marilyn quickly made a group of close friends.
Marilyn loved to travel. With her family, she made several trips to Europe and she and Michael enjoyed driving to visit family and friends. After Mike’s passing, she traveled with friends by riverboat, bus and train to see areas of the United States and Canada. As much as she loved to travel, Marilyn loved making a home even more. Wherever she was, there was a garden for her to plant and flowers to enjoy. She loved to cook and bake for her neighbors and friends.
A remembrance of Marilyn’s life will be held Monday, November 25th at 2 PM in the 3rd floor conference lounge at the Prairie Wind Community at the Western Home (5313 Caraway Lane, Cedar Falls).
Marilyn is survived by her daughter, Lisa Eslinger, son-in-law Brian Eslinger, grandson Thomas Eslinger & his fiancé Jen Sobel. She is preceded in death by Mike and her parents. Lisa, Brian, and Thomas would like to thank the staff of the Western Home Communities for their kindness and compassion, especially as she dealt with the changes brought about by Alzheimer’s disease.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Employee Appreciation Fund at the Western Home Foundation (westernhomecommunities.org) or the Michael & Marilyn Roseberry Scholarship at the University of Northern Iowa (foundation.uni.edu).
