Peggy Jean Henderson

Peggy Jean Henderson (née Keenan), 74, of Walford, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on Monday, November 4, 2024, at the Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha, IA. 

Peggy was born April 27, 1950, in Cedar Rapids, IA to Richard and Myrtle Keenan. She graduated from Washington Sr. High in Cedar Rapids in 1968, and then Kirkwood Community College in 1974. She was employed at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics and retired in 2008 so she could take care of her mother and started working as a Medical Assistant. She was the guardian of her granddaughter Nicole Copeland and the adoptive mother of her grandson Noah Medulan.

She is survived by her sons, Joshua (Jessica) Henderson of St. Louis, MO and Noah (Danica) Medulan of Marion, IA, and her daughters, Kelly Copeland of Walford, IA and Nicole Copeland of Marion, IA. She is also survived by her brother, Doug (Linda) Keenan of Western, IA and son-in-law Michael McMullin of Cedar Rapids, IA, as well as grandchildren, Alec Hutchcroft, Anabelle Boatman, Ashton Henderson, Allison Bolanos, Caleb Henderson, and great-grandchildren, Nova Copeland and Nellie Smith. Other survivors include nieces, Lorie (Tom) Brydon, Carrie (Nick) Hulett, and nephew, Clint Keenan. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Myrtle Keenan, her sister, Marilyn Kolek, and her daughter, Dina McMullin. Family was very important to her and she loved them all dearly.

There will be no funeral per Peggy’s wishes, and instead she will be cremated and planted with a Japanese cherry blossom tree. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations for cremation expenses.
