Harriet Margaret McIntire

Harriet Margaret Moore was born March 23, 1930, in Highland Park, New Jersey to Edith Catherine Anthony Moore and Harry Luzerne Moore. She graduated from Highland Park High School.

She was united in marriage to Warren Dean McIntire October 23, 1948, in Highland Park, New Jersey before making their home together in Rockwell City, Iowa.

Harriet worked in Rockwell City for General Telephone and Electric (GTE) as a switchboard operator. Later she assisted Warren with their furniture store, McIntire Furniture, in Sac City, Iowa. She also worked as a travel agent for Towne & Country Travel, Carroll, Iowa.

Harriet was a long-standing member of the United Methodist Church in Rockwell City and enjoyed singing in the choir and sometimes substituted for the church’s organist. She also enjoyed playing her piano at home.

In 2022, Warren and Harriet moved to Grinnell, Iowa to be closer to family.

Harriet McIntire is survived by two sons, Gregory Dean (Kay) McIntire and Scott Warren (Lori) McIntire; four grandchildren: Graham (Amanda) McIntire, Morgan (Michael) Ray, Ashley (Nicholas) LaRue, and Sierra Mortimer (Timothy Patten); nine great grandchildren: Garin, Avryn, and Ella McIntire, Adelaide and Anabelle Ray, Dasha and Blayne LaRue, Hailey Mortimer, and Harper Patten.

Harriet was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile and unwavering love for her family.

A private burial will be held at Lake City Cemetery (Lake City, Iowa) at a later time.
