Jill Christine Muckler

Jill Christine Muckler, 56, of Marion, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2025, from a sudden illness at Mercy Medical Center.  Services will be held Wednesday, August 27, 2025, 11:00 am at First Presbyterian Church in Marion, Iowa.  Visitation at the Church will begin at 9:00 am-11:00 am.  

Jill was born September 1, 1968, at RAF Lakenheath, East Suffolk, England the only child of Stephen and Sally (Herrington) Stendel.  She graduated from Linn Mar High School in 1986.  After two years working and managing The Limited, she met and married Trent Muckler on October 21, 1989.  

In 1991 Jill and Trent took ownership of the Dairy Queen on 1st Ave from Jill’s parents.  This was the first DQ in Linn County which was opened by Gene and Dorothy Herrington, Jill’s grandparents.  Jill was the third generation of the family in Dairy Queen, and later both her daughters were the fourth generation.  Jill and Trent opened their second location, The DQ Grill and Chill in Mount Vernon, Iowa, in 1997.
They later sold that location.

Jill is survived by her husband Trent, daughters, Devin and Caryss, parents, Stephen and Sally Stendel, brother in-law Todd Muckler, sister in-law, Tracey (Bill) Pearson, uncle, Clancy (Jan) Herrington, aunts, Nancy (Paul) Klein and Molly Herrington, and cousin, Laural (Eric) Miller-Klein.

She was preceded in death by her in-laws, Jack and Audrey Muckler, paternal grandparents, Fred and Ilene Stendel, maternal grandparents, Gene and Dorothy Herrington, and cousins, Sam Herrington and Marc Klein.

Memorial donations may be directed to the family.
