Carol Ann (Koshatka) Hamilton, 81 years old of Independence, IA, died peacefully in her sleep Sunday, February 16, 2025, at Lexington Place Nursing Home in Independence. 

Iowa Cremation, Cedar Rapids IA is assisting the family, with a burial at a later date when the family can gather together at Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery.

Carol was born May 22, 1943, in Waterloo, IA, the daughter of James Clarence Koshatka and Susie Alletta (Fletcher) Koshatka. Carol went to grade school at Saint Athanasius in Jesup, Iowa and graduated from Don Bosco high school in Gilbertville Iowa. Class of 1961. On January 20,1962, Carol and Thomas (Tom) Hamilton were married in Jesup, IA and lived in the area until early 1990’s. Carol raised four sons and worked full time at Farmers Bank Jesup. They moved to Midlothian Virginia to spend time with two sons. while there. Carol managed a branch bank in Midlothian. After one year they moved back and built a new home in Independence. Shortly Carol went to work at Veridian Credit Union, Independence office until she retired in 2014.

Carol’s main interests were her four sons and six grandchildren, and sports they played. She was a dirt track stock car racing fan especially when her sons were racing. She also drove in powder- puff derbies in her early 20s. She also helped work on Tom’s race cars when they were first married.

Carol is survived by her husband, Tom Hamilton of Independence, IA. Sons, Bret (Tina) Hamilton of Powhatan, VA, Micheal Hamilton of Dike, IA, Jon (Dea) Hamilton of Midlothian, VA and Dirk Hamilton of Urbana, IA. Grandchildren, Bryce, Brady & Reece Hamilton of Midlothian VA. Blake Hamilton of New York, NY. Dylan Hamilton of Waterloo, IA. and Aylssa (Levi) Deal of Yukon, OK. One brother, Dave Koshatka of Harpers Ferry, IA. & one niece, Heather (Christopher) Eastman of North Liberty, IA.

She is preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Louis Koshatka, and one sister-in-law, Karen Koshatka.
