Darlys Jane Sifrit
Darlys Jane (Offt) Sifrit, 87, of Pleasant Hill, Iowa, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. Darlys was born August 14, 1937, in Dysart, Iowa, the daughter of Ralph and Malinda (Stein) Offt.
Darlys was raised in the Dysart, Iowa area and graduated from Dysart High school in 1955. After graduating from high school, Darlys worked as a bookkeeper in Waterloo before moving to Des Moines to continue her bookkeeping career. Shortly after moving to Des Moines, she met Lenon (Len) John Sifrit, Jr. They were united in marriage on June 18, 1960, at Zion Lutheran Church in Dysart, Iowa. Darlys and Len made a life together in Boone, Iowa where they raised four children - Lori, Mark, Lisa and Keri.
In her early years as a mother, Darlys stayed at home to raise her kids and kept very busy with her children’s lives. Through the years, Darlys could be found volunteering for her children’s activities and traveling around the state, sitting in bleachers or in auditoriums watching numerous sporting activities and musical performances. After being promoted to grandparent, Darlys continued to travel the state and country supporting her children and grandchildren.
Darlys loved her family, but being an involved parent did not prevent her from working outside the home. Darlys volunteered for the PTA and worked as a school “lunch lady” while her kids were growing up. Darlys enjoyed a position as a receptionist in the ER Department of the Boone County Hospital and, later in life, a receptionist for Montage Chiropractic in Boone. During her “golden years”, Darlys could be found at the Boone Senior Citizen’s Center where she helped with organizing and participating in activities.
Darlys enjoyed traveling with her family and friends. Most of the time, her excursions meant riding in a car across the United States visiting attractions, sightseeing and spending time making memories with family and friends.
Darlys is survived by her husband of 64 years, Lenon; daughter Lori (Joel) Doyle; son Mark (Shelli) Sifrit; daughter Lisa Sifrit; daughter Keri (Troy) Miller, 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; siblings Darrel Offt and Dixie Offt (Mark Parnell) and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life is being planned for June 14, 2025, to celebrate, honor and remember the remarkable life Darlys lived.
