Marcia Jean Andersen

Marcia Jean Andersen, age 81, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, passed away peacefully having touched the lives of many with her unwavering love and devotion to her family and friends. She was born on April 24, 1943, to Elmer and Marlys (Claassen) Dieken. Marcia graduated from Dike High School in 1961 and married Gary Andersen on February 10, 1962, at Colfax Center Presbyterian Church in rural Holland, Iowa. Marcia and Gary made their home in Dike, Iowa, where they lived until 2009. After Gary’s passing that year, Marcia moved to Waterloo and later to Cedar Falls.

After high school, Marcia worked in the office at Northwestern Bell Telephone Company, she served as the Dike City Clerk from 1969 to 1975 and then retired from Supply Management at John Deere after 26 years. Throughout her life, Marcia was involved in her community and church. She served on the Fredsville Church Council and was a Board Member of Christian Crusade. She enjoyed attending Bible studies, as well as participating in several bridge groups.

Marcia had a love for reading, sports, and attending musical events, but her greatest joy came from spending time with her family. She cherished her children, her grandson Zach and his wife, Heather, and her great-grandchildren, Blakelee and Noah.

Marcia is survived by her children, Beth (Gary) Koenen of Cedar Falls and Mark Andersen of Clear Lake; her grandson Zach (Heather) Andersen of Dike; great-grandchildren Blakelee and Noah Andersen of Dike; her brother Mike (Karen) Dieken of Dike; her sister-in-law Amy Jensen of Dike; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Gary; her son, Gregory; her sister, Dixie Spain; brothers-in-law Harold Lindeman, John Spain, Ron Andersen, and Kenny Andersen; and sister-in-law Diane Burns.

Marcia’s love for her family and faith will be remembered by all who knew her. Please join us as we celebrate her life. Services will be held at Fredsville Lutheran Church on Friday, February 21st with visitation at 10:00 followed by an 11:00 Service and luncheon. Fredsville Lutheran Church, 32756 150th St., Cedar Falls, IA 50613.
