Jeanette L. Barnell

Jeanette L. Barnell, Age 76, of Cedar Rapids, IA, passed away at the Oldorf Hospice House on Thursday, January 30, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025, from 9 AM until 11:30 AM at the Fairfax Community Room, 300 80th Street, Fairfax. 

Jeanette was born on March 24, 1948, in Pomona, CA. She was the daughter of the late Calvin and Marie (Conger) Farris. She married the love of her life, Kenneth Barnell. She worked in childcare for many years before her retirement. Jeanette loved watching Court Television and Game Shows. She enjoyed going to the Casino and doing crossword puzzles. Jeanette’s greatest joy in life was spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. 

Those left to cherish Jeanette’s memory are her children, Brigitte (Mike) Steimel, of Cedar Rapids, IA, Kenny (Michelle) Barnell, of Fairfax, IA, and Joe (Krista) Barnell, of Cedar Rapids, IA; her grandchildren, Hannah, Hope, Hailey, Brynlee, Masen, Calvin, and Madeline; her sister, Janet (David) Hawley, of Elk Run Heights, IA. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a brother, Dennis Farris, and her cat, Mr. Doodles.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House.

The family would like to thank all of the staff at both Irving Point and the Oldorf Hospice House for all the love and support they showed Jeanette while she was in their care.
