Carl Lee Anderegg

Carl Anderegg, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2025, at the age of 77 in Coralville, Iowa. Born on May 20, 1948, in Rockford, Illinois, Carl was a devoted family man, known for his caring nature and his ability to bring joy to those around him.

Carl was the son of Harold Elmer Anderegg and Genevieve Gay Davis, born in Rockford Illinois. He Grew up in the areas of Colesburg and Manchester, Iowa. 

He was preceded in death by his parents Harold (Red) Anderegg, Genevieve Williams, his sister Linda Bartholow, and Grandson Randy Joe Hammonds, their legacy continued through Carl and his family. 

When Carl concluded his primary schooling, his country called needing his service and Carl answered the call of duty on April 9th, 1968, serving honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. A Marksman with the M-14 and an Expert with the M-16, His bravery and commitment to his nation were recognized through numerous awards, including The National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, The Army Commendation Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal "DVC 60," reflecting his service of over 60 days in Vietnam. He exemplified dedication and skill in the face of adversity, serving as a source of pride for his family. His service shaped him into the hardworking man he would become.

On August 15, 1992, Carl married the love of his life, Sherry Arlene (Pritchard) Swanson Anderegg, in Elkader, Iowa. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and shared dreams. Carl was a proud father, grandfather and great grandfather to his Sons, Casey L. (Ashley) Anderegg, grandchild Aidan, Steven J. Henderson, grandchildren Sasha and Alice, of Des Moines, Iowa. Daughters Richele R. Henderson, grandchildren Max and Luca, Michele M. Henderson of Tennessee, grandchildren Walter IV, Barton, Milton, Amelie, and Ren. Stepdaughters, Ronda (John) Britton of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, Belinda (Wesley) Hammonds of Wills Point Texas, grandchild Jena (Chase) Hatch great grandchildren Carson & Jase, grandchild Bryce (Kendra) Hammonds, great grandchildren Lainey and Everly, grandchild Ashley (Zack Krage) Hammonds, great grandchildren Randi, Zack and Parker.

Carl is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, sister Bonnie Popp, brothers Allan (Renee) Anderegg, Bill (Maria)Williams, and a circle of family and friends who will miss him dearly.

Throughout his life, Carl had an impressive work ethic and was never afraid of manual labor. He spent a significant part of his career at the historic Sands Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada and later at the Miss Marquette riverboat Casino, now known as the Queen Marquette, floating on the Mississippi river. He was a man of many talents and held various other jobs, always approaching his work with determination and dedication.

Carl’s hobbies reflected his zest for life as he played the drums in a country western band with his mother and other group members of (The Country Ramblers). He loved to play golf, hunting, fishing, and swimming and enjoyed happy hour beverages with friends, relishing in the camaraderie that came from those shared moments. He was known for his caring and sometimes ornery spirit, always ready to speak his mind when it mattered most. Carl had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to joke around with his family and friends, creating lasting memories filled with laughter.

A celebration of Carl’s life will be held at a later date, allowing family and friends to honor the remarkable man he was. While he may no longer be with us in body, his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were lucky enough to know him.

Carl L. Anderegg was a man with many layers, who had a very infectious laugh, a loving husband, a resolute father, and a friend who touched the lives of countless people. His legacy of love, laughter, and hard work will forever be remembered, a very friendly fellow who will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
