David William Graham

David William Graham, 82, of Des Moines, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, March 15, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones after a courageous battle with cancer.

David was born on October 11, 1942, in Kansas City, MO, to Merwin and Elsie Graham. In 1945, his family moved to Des Moines, where he spent most of his life. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1961 and went on to work in the tire industry for a total of 18 years, a career he truly enjoyed.

David was a man of great humor and kindness, always putting others before himself. He cherished time spent with family and friends, finding joy in sailing, traveling, wine, and animals. He especially loved taking his beloved dog, Bailey, on long walks.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and former wife Marsha Stewart (Graham); married for 26 years.

David is survived by his wife Nancy Graham of 32 years; his brother, Wes Graham (Virginia); his children, Leslea Ward (Bryan), Matthew Morlan (Amy), Sara Quinn (Scott), and Amanda Ross (Matthew); eight grandchildren—Joshua, Madisen, Reannen, Paul, Miranda, Malore Ruby, Cory, and Max; and his great-granddaughter, Maeve.

A memorial service will be held on April 4th at 2:00 PM at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 8301 NW Aurora Ave, Urbandale, IA 50322. Visitation will take place before the service at 1:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in David’s honor.
