Kimberly Regan Ashmore

Kimberly (Kim) Ashmore passed on March 14, 2025, at home in Ankeny, Iowa, due to complications of pancreatic neuroendocrine cancer.

Kim was born on June 1,1965, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, the daughter of Joe and Regan Holub. She grew up on the Holub family farm near What Cheer. She graduated from Oskaloosa High School in 1983. She then attended and graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with an accounting degree. It is there she met Paul Ashmore. They were united in marriage on July 3, 1988, in Waterloo and celebrated 37 years of marriage together. Kim and Paul were blessed with a daughter, Cassie, and a son, Alex.

Kim worked for many years in the accounting field and retired from the State of Iowa Department of Administrative Services.

Kim’s greatest joy was her family. Granddaughter Nina provided much delight. The arrival of a grandson this spring and another grandson this summer were greatly anticipated. She also enjoyed spending time with friends and her many dear pets. She enjoyed the outdoors especially long walks and hikes, feeding the backyard birds and squirrels, reading, attending concerts with Paul, and annual trips to North Shore, Minnesota.

The last eight years of Kim’s life after cancer diagnosis had many ups and downs. She is forever grateful for the unwavering loving care and support of her husband Paul, and all her family. Faithful friends, supportive coworkers, and the Ankeny First United Methodist Church community were also a great blessing.

Special thanks to Dr. Schultheis and the entire team at Mission Cancer. Great appreciation is also given to the Dr. Richard Deming Integrative Cancer Center, Above and Beyond Cancer, Every Step Hospice, and the University of Iowa Hospitals Neuroendocrine Cancer Center.

Kim is survived by her husband Paul, daughter Cassie (Jack) Zehr, granddaughter Nina Zehr and grandson to be born this summer, and son Alex (Olivia) Ashmore and a grandson to be born this spring.

Kim is also survived by her mother Regan Holub, sisters Sondra (Shannon) Shaw, Cheryl (PJ) Corns, Mary Thomas (Kelly Willett), brother Curtis (Sarah) Holub, sister-in-law Kathy (Mike) Remetch, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was proceeded in death by her grandparents Louie and Rosetta Holub and Ray and Garrity Watson, father Joe Holub, in-laws Don and Mary Jo Ashmore, and niece Joanna Randall.
