Mary Alice Darr
Mary Alice (Glass) Darr, 92, passed away on March 9, 2025, in Omaha, Nebraska.
Born on February 2, 1933, in Aurora, Illinois, she married Robert William Darr, Sr. on May 10, 1952. They had 6 children. Mary lived a life filled with love, laughter, and an unwavering dedication to those around her. She was a compassionate and caring person who always made time for others—whether offering a shoulder to cry on or sharing a hearty laugh. She had a strong voice for the people and causes she cared about, never hesitating to speak up in an effort to make the world a better place.
Mary was also passionate about golf. She discovered this later in life after deciding to join her husband on the golf course. Though he had been playing for years, Mary quickly became a formidable competitor, eventually surpassing him in skill. While it took some time for him to adjust to being outplayed, their shared love of the game brought them even closer together.
Another cherished part of Mary’s life was traveling to Las Vegas with her husband. Over the years, they were joined by many friends and family members on these trips, creating countless wonderful memories together.
Mary is survived by her sister Virginia (Jim) Gengler of Olds, Iowa; her brother Richard (Jeanne) of Aurora, Illinois; her children Connie S. Darr of Yountville, California; Nancy L. (Stan) Epp of Omaha, Nebraska; Robert W. Darr, Jr. of Norwalk, Iowa; Michael J. (Kim) Darr of Granger, Iowa; and Richard F. (Pennie) Darr of Indianola, Iowa. Her beloved grandchildren: Amanda Magrum, Ashley Reyes, David Birchmier, Emily Birchmier, Christopher Darr, Michael Darr, Zach Darr, Adam Darr, Annemarie Buerger, Hannah Darr, Bethany Darr and Hailey Darr. Her sweet great grandchildren: Zander Magrum, Dominic Murphy, Angel Araujo, Anthony Araujo, Ana Sofia Araujo, Arianna Reyes and Elliott Darr.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Marion (Breese) Glass; her beloved husband, Robert (Bob); her beautiful daughter, Peggy (Margaret) Ann (Rick) Birchmier; and her brothers Bill (Jean) Glass, Jack (Georgetta) Glass, Tom (Hope) Glass, Bob (Marilyn) Glass, Steven Glass, and her sisters Barbara (Jim) Dray, and Marta (Don) Heldenberg and her grandchildren Sean Murphy, Eric Murphy, and Benjamin Darr.
A celebration of Mary’s life will be announced at a later date. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
