Scott James Sherman

Scott James Sherman, 57, was born January 8, 1968 in Polk Co, IA to James and Phyllis (Wilson) Sherman. He passed away May 13, 2025 at Mercy Medical center in Des Moines after a heroic fight with cancer.

 

He graduated from Lincoln High School in Des Moines. He enjoyed a long and fulfilling career as a carpenter and home builder.  Scott took great pride in building with passion and craftsmanship. He most recently worked with Summit Homes as a Construction Superintendent until the company relocated to Kansas City.

 

He enjoyed coaching soccer, attending his grandchildren’s games and watching their performances.  He was an avid football and NASCAR fan, and traveled across the country attending races with his family. His hobbies were wood working and caring for plants and flowers he received from his grandparents. He loved fishing with his grandchildren and looked forward to going fishing with his buddies in the Northern Lakes.

 

He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.

 

He is survived by his mother Phyllis Irish. His three children: Andrew (Sarah) Mills; Alysha Sherman; and Olyvia Sherman. Grandchildren: Alexander, Evelyn, Celeste, Caiden, Joe, Letti, Lila, Jamal and Kaison. His sister, Lori Heiser and brother, Jeff (Gina) Sherman, aunt Norine Marlowe and his faithful Jack Russell, Hero. Scott left behind not only his family but many friends. He will be missed more than words can convey. 

 

A private burial will be held at a later date.

 

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 13th, from 5-8PM at the Waukee Community Center, 675 Walnut St, Waukee, Iowa.
