Maynard “Kevin” Heishman
Maynard “Kevin” Heishman passed away of natural causes on October 11, 2025, in Montezuma, Iowa.
He was born on October 10, 1952, in Grinnell, Iowa, to Maynard K. Heishman and Mavis (Rinehart) Heishman. He attended BGM High School, where he ran track and cross country, wrestled, and played both French horn and guitar. Kevin went on to graduate from the University of Iowa in 1981 with a Bachelor of Business Administration.
Kevin loved the outdoors and rarely sat still. He spent his time riding horses, trapping, hunting, skiing, fishing, and competing in rodeo events. He also took ownership of the family farm and maintained it until his passing.
He worked as a heavy equipment operator, first with Manatts and later through Local Union #234. He also enjoyed traveling to visit family and friends. On one of his favorite adventures, he attended an air show in Illinois and took to the sky in the navigator’s seat of a TBM Avenger—just like the one his uncle Mervaille flew during World War II in the Pacific Theater.
He is survived by his sisters Jeanne H. Morris of Colorado and Tracy Heishman of Hartwick, Iowa; his nieces Jeannette, Michelle, and Sarah Morris; his nephew Frederick Morris, all of Colorado; as well as many cousins and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. His family thanks you for your kind thoughts and caring calls.
