LeRoy Wayne Cerwinske
With hearts full of love and cherished memories, we celebrate the life of LeRoy Wayne Cerwinske, who peacefully passed away on September 21, 2025, at his home in Nashua, IA, surrounded by his beloved family after courageously battling cancer. At 80 years old, LeRoy completed his earthly journey with the same grace and strength that defined his remarkable life.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Cedar Point Church in Nashua with Pastor Darin Cerwinske officiating. Interment will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Nashua.
Friends may greet the family 4:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, October 3, 2025 at Cedar Point Church in Nashua. Visitation continues an hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
Born on February 23, 1945, to Franklin and Vera (Hennick) Cerwinske, LeRoy was the oldest of three children, followed by his siblings Bruce and Janice.
While living on the family farm, LeRoy graduated from Nashua High School with the Class of '63, where he was voted "Class Flirt" by his classmates. One joy was getting to be Harvest Ball king/queen with his longtime high school sweetheart, Sandra Sue Moine. On June 14, 1964, LeRoy and Sandra were married, beginning a beautiful partnership that spanned over 61 years. Together, they built a loving family and created countless precious memories. LeRoy was a devoted father to his four children: Paije, Perry, Darin, and Kevin, of whom he was very proud.
In his early years, LeRoy had a passion for racing stock cars. He also loved to fish, creating cherished family memories during many years of fishing trips in Minnesota with his entire extended family. LeRoy had a great love of snowmobiling with his family and friends, making countless trips to Wisconsin that became treasured adventures for all involved.
LeRoy began his working life at Shep's Standard Service as a young man, then dedicated 19 years to Oliver/White Farm Implement in Charles City. When White Farm closed its doors, LeRoy's passion for snowmobiling became his livelihood as he opened what would become known as LeRoy's Repair in 1980, turning his love for the sport into a successful business. He later expanded to include lawn and garden equipment, working side-by-side with his youngest son and main mechanic, Kevin. His business was very successful, earning him recognition as the State of Iowa Dealer of the Year and the American Council of Snowmobile Association's National Dealer of the Year. LeRoy was a longtime founder of the Nashua Stumpjumpers snowmobile club and was instrumental in establishing the first groomed trails in the area.
LeRoy was deeply committed to serving his community. He was actively involved with the Big Four Fair board, dedicated thirteen years of service to the Nashua Volunteer Fire Department, and served on the Greenwood Cemetery Association, always willing to give his time and energy to help others and improve his community. LeRoy attended Cedar Point Church where he gave his life to Christ and was baptized in June 2016 by his son/pastor, Darin.
LeRoy's legacy lives on through his family, his unwavering faith, and the countless lives he touched with his servant attitude and never-ending sense of humor. His memory will be treasured by all who were blessed to know him, and his spirit will continue to inspire those he loved.
LeRoy was preceded in death by his infant son, Perry, his father, his brother, his father and mother-in-law, Albert and Evelyn Moine, his brothers-in-law Roland, Larry, and Bernard Moine, and sister-in-law, Winnett Moine. He is survived by his wife, his mother, his sister, Janice (Lyn) Flenker, his children: Paije Cerwinske, Darin (Deedie) Cerwinske, and Kevin (Jodi) Cerwinske, sisters-in-law, Kathy Cerwinske, Barbara (Moine) Gustafson, 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
