Wilma Jane (Mihm) Jones
The Lord took Wilma Jane (Mihm) Jones home to Heaven on September 5, 2025. She passed peacefully at home with loving family around her at the age of 85.
Wilma was born to Frank L. Mihm and Theresa C. (Schrandt) Mihm on November 23, 1939. Early in life, Wilma dedicated herself to her family. She began working at the age of 13 to aid her family burdens. Wilma was blessed with 5 children, Theresa Vance, Marilyn Slivinski of North Carolina, James “Jim” Vance of Homestead, IA, Dean (Jonnette) Vance of Marengo, IA, and Gary (Chris) Vance of South Amana, IA. Throughout her life, Wilma cared for many others. She enjoyed the outdoors immensely. She had many fond memories of coon hunting at her family farm in St. Lucas, IA. Wilma had a passion for crafts and woodworking. Many of the “gifts” she gave in life were yard décor, birdhouses and gadgets made by her own hands. Simply made, but always with love. Wilma’s compassion for people led her to return to college late in life to become a nurse. She worked in care centers caring for those who could not care for themselves. After retirement, Wilma spent many winters in the Southern US, attending gate at Army Corps of Engineer Parks.
Late in life she met and married her soulmate, Dale. They traveled for several years prior to his death.
Wilma is survived by her children Marilyn, Jim, Dean, and Gary; 16 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
She is preceded in death by her husband Roy “Dale” Jones; parents Frank and Theresa Mihm; her siblings Arthur, Rita, Mathilda, and Delbert; her daughter Theresa “Teri”; and daughter-in-law, Clara.
Private family burial will be at a later date.
