Ladd Wessels

It is with heavy hearts and an appreciation for a man who lived life large, that we announce the passing of Ladd Wessels, a fiercely loyal husband, father, son, brother, and friend. Ladd departed this world on October 20, 2026.  His zest for life and engaging energy uplifted and engaged his family and friends..

Born on September 1, 1969, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Ladd was the spirited son of Richard and Sherri Wessels. From an early age, Ladd demonstrated a remarkable talent for sports, becoming a standout athlete at La Salle High School, where he excelled in football and basketball. Ladd's competitive spirit and dedication to excellence did not wane after high school, as he went on to play football at University of Iowa and become an avid golfer. His love for the outdoors was evident in his passion for fishing, hunting, camping and boating.

Ladd's life was further enriched when he married his soulmate, Alane Corrigan who shared his love for nature and spending time with family and friends.  Ladd was a devoted father to Max and Zeb, nurturing them with the same love and wisdom that defined his own life.  His boys will remember his consistent  messages to “be a good guy” and “make smart decisions.” His family was the center of his universe, and he found his greatest happiness in their company.

Ladd is survived by his wife, Alane, his son, Max and his fiancé Tori Housley, and his son Zeb, his mother, Sherri, and his siblings, Todd, Michelle, and Chadd. He was predeceased by his father, Richard.

There is so much to celebrate about Ladd’s life and the opportunity to do so will be at his Celebration of Life on Saturday, October 24th from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. at Amana Colony Golf Course Club House. In true Ladd fashion, he said, “suits and dresses prohibited.”  Those in golf and casual attire will gain admittance.
