Douglas Lee Winders

Mr Winders was my 8th grade Language Arts teacher at Wilson Jr High. I remember him teaching us Mythology and how I enjoyed it. I am sending my thoughts and prayers to his entire family 🙏 ❤️ 🙏 RIP Mr Winders

I graduated with Doug. He had a friendly manner to all his classmates!

We were glad to be a small part of Doug’s life. If you were a friend of Doug’s you darn well better be a fan of the Hawkeyes. May he now rest in peace ! He will truly be missed by many. Blessings to his family! 🙏

Mr. Winders was my 8th grade Language Arts teacher at Wilson Jr High. He was one of those memorable teachers who really enjoyed teaching and taught with wisdom and humor. We set up an imaginary wedding between me and his alter ego Lumir Connepacek. He surprised me and the entire class by ordering an enormous prune kolache from Sykora's Bakery in Czech Village in lieu of a wedding cake. It was pretty great He also encouraged me to run for Student Council to bring me out of my shell. I ran and lost, but it was a valuable experience. I will never forget him! My condolences to the family during this difficult time. -Stacy (Vrba) Boston

Beth and family, so sorry to hear of Doug’s passing, our thoughts and prayers are with you. We will always remember you as the first neighbors we met (Pleasant Dr in Bettendorf) when we moved to Iowa as newlyweds. Your friendship and helpfulness (kitchen water explosions) will always be remembered. Blessings, Dean & Trish Wendt
