Dale Francis Brcka
Dale Francis Brcka, aged 79, passed away on July 21, 2024.
Dale was born on February 2, 1945, to the late George and Marie Brcka and grew up on a farm southeast of Britt, Iowa. He attended a one room schoolhouse through eighth grade before attending Britt High School. He reveled in telling his children stories of riding a horse to school. A skilled embellisher, most of those stories involved riding uphill in snow, both ways.
An exceptional athlete from a young age, Dale excelled in sports and was sought after by colleges for his prowess in both wrestling and football. He went to attend college, initially at Mason City Junior College before being recruited to Drake University on a football scholarship. He graduated in 1968 with a degree in Marketing, paving the way for a successful career ahead.
After graduation, Dale embarked on a distinguished career with Massey Ferguson, spanning several decades until 1993. A testament to his amiable nature and genuine interest in others, he forged enduring friendships with colleagues. He always enjoyed meeting and catching up with his lifelong friends. His professional journey later led him to Agra Placements, Ltd., where he served as a consultant.
Many of Dale's fondest memories were made on the countless camping, boating, and fishing adventures with his three sons, Chad, David, and Scott. He could seemingly drive for days without stopping, though his choice of musical accompaniment often tested his sons’ patience with Neil Diamond and Barbra Streisand on repeat during long cross-country van rides.
An avid enthusiast of motorcycles and fast cars, Dale’s collection included multiple Corvettes, an MG, Mazda RX-7, and a beloved Harley-Davidson, all meticulously maintained.
Sports remained a passion for Dale, especially football. He was a big Iowa State Football supporter and traveled to see all of David's games, both home and away. In his final years, he became a huge Caitlyn Clark fan, following her career from college basketball to the WNBA, engaging in lively texts with friends, back and forth, during her games.
Later in life, Dale reconnected with his high school sweetheart and self-described love of his life Deloris. The two of them lived together in Illinois until Deloris passed away. In his last days, Dale would often remark that he was looking forward to seeing Deloris again in Heaven.
Dale was well known for making people laugh with his sharp wit. He often saw the best in everyone and had many life-long friends. His big, generous, and loving heart, wry wit, proud and adventurous spirit, and mischievous smile will be missed by many.
Dale is survived by his three sons, Chad, Scott, and David, his brother Kenneth, his sisters Janice, Barbara, and Diane, as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
