Wanda “Toby" Bissell
Wanda “Toby” Bissell, 86, passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family. Per Toby’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and no services will be held.
Toby was born on August 13, 1937, in Lamont, IA, to Vern and Hazel Kellogg. Upon graduation, she relocated to Cedar Rapids and worked at Allis Chalmers for many years. Toby met and married Leo Bissell on November 29, 1959. They shared a life together for 63 years before Leo’s passing in December of 2022. You could always find the two of them every Wednesday night cooking for the Asbury Circuit Riders Youth Group.
Toby is survived by her four children, Shane Bissell, Lance Bissell, Lea (Gary) Cliff, and Barry (Stacia) Bissell; five grandchildren, Braxton, Braeden, and Shayla Bissell and Rylee and Jillian Cliff; one brother, Gary Kellogg of Iowa City and a lifetime friend, Marilyn Vanderhei. Toby was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Leo, and siblings Francis, Babe and Evelyn.
We would like to thank the wonderful staff at Mercy Hospice for their compassionate care as mom made her final journey home. Memorials may be directed to the family.
