Gary absolutely loved listening to music, having a cold beer, telling a good joke, and spending time with  his grandchildren. He expressed deep gratitude to the Patterson Creek Social Club for sharing some of  their vast stores of knowledge with him over the years. Gary thoroughly enjoyed his retirement years by  reading everything he could get his hands on, spending time with family, and traveling to Texas.

Gary wished to express his gratitude to the VA in Decorah and Iowa City for the wonderful care he  received, and to Heather at the Allamakee County Veterans Affairs for all her help over the years. Gary  also wanted to say thank you to WinnMed Hospice for the superb care, specifically to his nurse, Sam, and  his aide, Stacy. Finally, Gary wanted to thank librarians for all the great reads.

Life just won’t be the same without Gary Gilbertson to make us all laugh. Thank you for being the best  husband, Dad, and Papa we could ever ask for.

Breathe easy, Dad. We love you.
